People

The Church is its people. At St Michael and All Saints we encourage people to become involved in the service of the Church through becoming a reader, a server, helping with flowers, cleaning, visiting or in many other ways.

The management of the Church is primarily conducted by the Vestry, made up of the Rector and lay members of the congregation who are elected by the congregation or co-opted on.

Details of key contacts and explanations of their roles are given below.

The Rector's Warden
The Rector's warden is appointed by the Rector and supports him in his ministry.

The People's Warden
The People's Warden is appointed by the congregation to represent their views and interests to the Rector and Vestry. They should be contacted if there is any church business to be discussed.

Vestry
The Vestry is a committee of elected members of the congregation which meets regularly (usually once a month) to discuss church matters and make decisions on behalf of the congregation. It reports formally to the congregation at the Annual General Meeting. The vestry also produces a rolling Church Plan which is published at the back of the church; copies are also available from the Secretary.

Specific roles within the Vestry team include: Treasurer, Secretary and Lay Reps. The Wardens are also members of the Vestry.

Sub-committees with responsibilities such as Finance & Property and Social meet regularly.

Lay Representatives
The Lay representatives attend Diocesan and Area meetings on behalf of St Michael & All Saints.
